Our Mission
The goals of Zangala, a not for profit 501c3 charitable organization based in California, are to preserve, validate, and honor the unique culture and cultural practices of the Dagara people of Burkina Faso – recognizing that the lifeways and living traditions of the Dagara are being slowly and quietly eroded in the face of modernity.

This initiative is guided by the spirit of reciprocity in recognition of the many gifts we in the West have received from the Dagara and their culture. In addition to our focus on celebrating Dagara culture we also hope to respond to the needs of the Dagara people by providing material aid to them when and as possible and appropriate.

All of our work has been and will continue to be based on direct collaboration with the Dagara themselves. We are in contact with a range of people in the Dagara world to develop our ideas, programs and initiatives. We welcome your comments and help!
