Down to Earth
Agricultural Partnering
Following three years of very low crop yield and near famine conditions in many parts of Dagara land, we gathered together to raise money to provide seed for the 2007 planting season. Responding to a request from the Dagara themselves, we also worked with a Dagara agricultural expert to select faster maturing corn seed which can make all the difference in Sub-Saharan farming conditions. We managed to raise enough money to provide ample seed stocks to over 250 families and we were thrilled to see that 2007 proved to be a banner year in terms of rain and agricultural output. The graineries are over-flowing and the new seed has spread far and wide through the villages. We look forward to more collaborations of this sort.
